About

In 2011 I discovered Pinterest. Shortly thereafter, I discovered fashion blogs, and my life was changed forever. I know it sounds dramatic, but truer words were never spoken (or written). I was frustrated by what I found on the web, quality plus size fashion blogs were hard to find, and many of them wore clothes WAY out of my price range. So with the support of my husband and a few close friends, I started my first blog, Hems for Her.

For over three years, I posted daily outfits three to four times a week and tried to intersperse my photographs with funny stories or commentary on the world around me (well, at least I tried to!). However, at the end of 2014, I found myself unsatisfied writing about my clothes and fashion for plus-sized women. I felt like there was more to me than some pinned images on Pinterest (though if you are on Pinterest, you've probably seen me pinned. A LOT. My friends like to tease me about being Pinterest-famous.), so with a heavy-heart I closed up my blog. It is currently private, and I'm not sure if I will ever publish it publicly again.

I truly feel like my calling in life is to write, but I pay the bills teaching 10th grade English and Creative Writing. I decided to start I Am Unabashed to document my ever-growing faith journey and to share my struggles and my inspiration with other women in the faith, or women questioning the faith. I am not perfect, and I will never pretend to be. Every day I learn so much about the Lord I serve, and I've come so far from the girl I was.
